Is buying meat, poultry, pork or produce from Wal-Mart a risky proposition?

After all, they force down prices and w/ that goes quality too. Would you trust food bought from there? Like most things, you get what you pay for.

You definitely do get what you pay for with walmart. I know for a fact that their roasts are filled with water and preservatives. Plus, do you really want to feed the beast? They have terrible customer service, they sell over-priced crap, they treat their employees like crap, they treat the LIVE animals they sell there like crap, and they sued a brain damaged woman causing her husband to have to divorce her just so she could get more money from medicade to pay for her medical care. Do you really want to support them?

It’s not any riskier than any place else. I brought some baby back ribs this weekend and they were great and cheaper than the others.
Just watch the dates and if the meat smells when you open it take it back.

Our Walmart is a very busy place. All of the seafood is from China or other country that doesn’t regulate foods like the USA does, but I find that my local grocery stores import their seafood as well for the most part.

My concern is the meat so I don’t really buy meat, however, Purdue chickens are sold there and come prepackaged so I will buy chicken.

Are Green Giant, Libbys, Delmonte products going to be different because they are sold at Walmart? I don’t think so. I believe the quality I am concerned about is the clothing and miscellaneous items.

Walmart gets the same products as every other store so I don’t think the product is going to be different.

The fruits and vegetables seem to be as fresh as any other store as well.

I do not work at Walmart so this does not influence my opinions.
