How does Baron of Beef compare to Prime Rib?

Our wedding reception caterers are serving Baron of Beef… Is it even good? I didn’t realize this until I got the menu, because they told me they were serving something like Prime Rib…

Baron of Beef is usually a top sirloin or similar cut of beef that has been roasted whole then sliced thin…..basic roast beef.
Prime Rib is a whole ribeye roast that is cooked whole and sliced in one inch thick slices.

Baron of beef is made from a less expensive cut of meat and will therefore feed a crowd more economically.

I think someone said its pretty similar to top sirloin, which i mean is a decent cut of meat, but if you are trying to go all out for this wedding,
prime rib is the top cut of meat for roast beef. Personally however, I don’t really love prime rib because its a bit fatty for me..but like other people have told me, that’s what makes it good.

Go to your local grocer and see the price difference between top sirloin and prime rib…you will see that you will think the price for top sirloin is
reasonable, but will say wow…for prime rib prices 🙂

One time I made vietnamese beef noodle soup. We had it for dinner, it was delicious. But we did not finish it. That evening, my wife’s grandma died so we made an emergency road trip for the funeral starting the next day. I left the vietnamese beef noodle soup on the stove and came back to it 5 days later. It was summer time and obviously the air conditioning was off for the 5 days we were gone. When I opened the lid and smelled it, a could not fight the nausea. It was so bad I feel a little nauseous right now just thinking about it.
